Job Description

As a Cook III, the team member supports overall kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, operating basic kitchen equipment, storing and labeling food products properly, and maintaining a clean and organized workstation. This position is ideal for candidates seeking cook jobs, kitchen jobs, or food preparation jobs who are eager to learn, develop culinary skills, and grow within the food service or hospitality industry. This role assists Cook I, Cook II, and Chefs with ingredient preparation, basic cooking tasks, and workstation setup while maintaining strict food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.

  • Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks under the supervision of Cook I, Cook II, or Chef
  • Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion ingredients according to recipes and preparation guidelines
  • Set up, maintain, and break down assigned kitchen stations before, during, and after service
  • Store, label, rotate, and monitor food products to ensure freshness and food safety compliance
  • Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Assist with dishwashing and cleaning duties as needed
  • Change fryer oil by draining used oil, cleaning fry pots, and refilling with fresh oil using proper equipment and safety procedures
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen operations

Qualifications

Experience

  • 6 months or more of food handling, kitchen, or cook‑related experience preferred

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food Handler Certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained in current/valid status

Skills / Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and safety guidelines
  • Eagerness to learn and develop culinary skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced environment
  • Dependability and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of kitchen tools and equipment
